Hi! It's Sunday in Kyiv. I start writing to you in the late morning. Victory (still a cat) is looking for adventures and trying to catch generous sun rays. We have power at home. In the last two days, the situation with energy supplies has improved. It is great, as this week was very hard. There were days when we had power for only a few hours.
Thank you Yara. Your country’s history is so sad and the rest of the world must ensure that this does not reoccur. It seems that dictators caused, and still cause, so much grief. I wish you well my dear.
the world definitely needs to know. and a good reminder to me to take note of whata is going on should i find myself in a bad situation - with next election, who knows (US).
Hi Yara, a little late with this reply but life has moments of tripping me up...nothing serious, just delayed me somewhat.
Once again very absorbing history, unsettling too to learn of the vile intentions and actions carried out against innocent people. There is neither rhyme or reason for 'man's inhumanity to man' and it deeply distresses me. It is compounded by the harsh reality of it happening even as we speak...#russiaisaterroriststate
Your letter is interspersed with a mixture of war news, the outages have been harsh but I need to understand , necessary, yet you have to live them, so difficult, no one wane wants to live in 'darkness' in this 21st century.
Your initiative in being forward looking regarding fibre internet has to be commended, sad that it is needed but a comfort to you no doubt.
Thank you for researching and sharing this history, Yara. So many people being treated so brutally! As if "iron fists" ever brought anything but pain 😢
The news of the striking back is positive. As for the international offers - promises are good, action is better still, so I hope these bear fruit soon.
I'm relieved that the power situation is improving - praise to the engineers of Ukraine 🇺🇦 🙌🏻
Hi Yara, thank you for your letter :). I really like the soviet history, from what I learned in school the "collectivation" of farms and factories happened very similarly in the former DDR (East Germany). Or in China. Always brutal. I remember my mum and grandma always said we were lucky that the reds were not in our area (it was under British occupation from 45-49 and the RAF had totally destroyed the inner city in a bombing raid which they referred to often, luckily they lived outside the centre).
Hope your power situation keeps improving, I really hate ru for everything they do to you and the shit they pull in Europe and the world. Just seeing pu makes me want to .....
Thank you for the news summary AND the history lesson. It is so important to know the history so that we can understand what is happening today. I’m so glad that western weapons are being used to hit ru territory and that more planes will be on the way. Great photos, too. Power Hugs.

Oh, Lin, thank you so much for your kind words of support. Glad to see you here 😘
thank you for sharing this history - so important for people to know. such a tragic time and so much loss 😢 we must learn from history
It is my greatest pleasure (and even duty) to share it. The world needs to know.

Relieved to read that Ukraine is launching counter attacks in defence of it's sovereign territory.
As of course any country would and should do.
Thank you for some background history as well.
This is new history for me, so very interesting to read
As the saying goes 'let there be light'.
Pleased that you now have some.
And a big meow from me to Victory the cat
Many thanks. G
It is great that you can learn something new from me, Graham. I am really pleased in it. Many hugs to you and Jill 🫂

Seems that putin has the same attitude, doesn't it: "With an iron fist, we will drive humanity to happiness"?
🫂💕🌷
Thank you Yaroslava.
My focus, probably because of where I live, has been mostly focussed on the West.
So it really is an interesting insight into a world that i don't know, but you know so well.
Thank you for sharing.
